On this Pentecost Sunday, the Church celebrates the living presence of the Holy Spirit who renews, strengthens, and unites the people of God. Pentecost is not only a memory of a past event, but a present reality: the Spirit continues to work in families, in young people, and in the whole community of faith.
During this weekend, I experienced in a very concrete way this action of the Holy Spirit in the life of the community.
On Sunday, during Holy Mass, Matias took part by playing music and singing during the celebration. His presence and talent brought great joy to the liturgy, and the family was very happy and moved. Music in the liturgy is also a gift of the Holy Spirit that helps lift hearts to God and strengthens the participation of the assembly.
On Saturday at 2:00 p.m., we celebrated a 15th birthday Mass at St. Nicholas Church, presided over by Father Cooper and Father José. It was a very beautiful celebration, filled with faith, joy, and gratitude to God for the life of the young girl, who is taking an important step in her journey.
Later on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., we went to Maricella’s home, where we celebrated the 16th birthday of her beautiful daughter. It was a very special moment of thanksgiving, lived with great emotion and faith. Our music group, with Francis and Flor, animated the celebration with songs that created an atmosphere of prayer and joy. Everyone was deeply touched by this moment of faith within the family.
In light of Pentecost, all of this reveals that the Holy Spirit is still present and active among the people, especially in families and young people.
Therefore, I want to emphasize the importance of young people serving at the altar as altar servers. Serving at the altar is a school of faith and love for the Eucharist. The young person who approaches the altar learns the value of service, sacred silence, and the presence of Jesus. This strengthens not only their personal life but the whole community.
We also want to motivate more boys and girls to become altar servers (altar boys and altar girls), so that they may grow in faith, love for the Eucharist, and commitment to the Church.
Likewise, the constant participation of families in Holy Mass is essential. A family that participates in the Eucharist remains united, strengthened, and guided by God’s grace. The Mass is a source of life, hope, and communion.
On this Pentecost, let us ask the Holy Spirit:
to renew our families,
to strengthen our young people,
and to make our community a true people of God, alive in faith and love.
May no one drift away from the Eucharist, but may all discover in it the living presence of Christ who transforms and sustains our lives.
Reflexión pastoral (Domingo de Pentecostés)
En este Domingo de Pentecostés, la Iglesia celebra la presencia viva del Espíritu Santo que renueva, fortalece y une al pueblo de Dios. Pentecostés no es solo un recuerdo de un acontecimiento pasado, sino una realidad presente: el Espíritu continúa actuando en las familias, en los jóvenes y en toda la comunidad de fe.
Durante este fin de semana, pude experimentar de manera concreta esta acción del Espíritu Santo en la vida de la comunidad.
El domingo, en la Santa Misa, Matías participó tocando música y cantando durante la celebración. Su presencia y talento trajeron gran alegría a la liturgia, y la familia se sintió muy feliz y emocionada. La música en la liturgia es también un don del Espíritu Santo que ayuda a elevar el corazón a Dios y fortalece la participación de la asamblea.
El sábado a las 2:00 p.m., celebramos una Misa de 15 años en la iglesia de St. Nicholas, presidida por el Padre Cooper y el Padre José. Fue una celebración muy hermosa, llena de fe, alegría y gratitud a Dios por la vida de la joven, que da un paso importante en su camino.
Más tarde, el sábado a las 4:00 p.m., fuimos a la casa de Maricella, donde celebramos los 16 años de su hermosa hija. Fue un momento muy especial de acción de gracias, vivido con gran emoción y fe. Nuestro grupo de música, con Francis y Flor, animó la celebración con cantos que crearon un ambiente de oración y alegría. Todos quedaron profundamente tocados por este momento de fe en familia.
A la luz de Pentecostés, todo esto muestra que el Espíritu Santo sigue presente y activo entre el pueblo, especialmente en las familias y en los jóvenes.
Por eso, quiero resaltar la importancia de que los jóvenes sirvan en el altar como monaguillos. Servir en el altar es una escuela de fe y de amor a la Eucaristía. El joven que se acerca al altar aprende el valor del servicio, del silencio sagrado y de la presencia de Jesús. Esto fortalece no solo su vida personal, sino también a toda la comunidad.
También queremos motivar a más niños y niñas a ser monaguillos (altar boys y altar girls), para que crezcan en la fe, en el amor a la Eucaristía y en el compromiso con la Iglesia.
De igual manera, es esencial la participación constante de las familias en la Santa Misa. La familia que participa en la Eucaristía permanece unida, fortalecida y guiada por la gracia de Dios. La Misa es fuente de vida, esperanza y comunión.
En este Pentecostés, pidamos al Espíritu Santo:
que renueve nuestras familias,
que fortalezca a nuestros jóvenes,
y que haga de nuestra comunidad un verdadero pueblo de Dios, vivo en la fe y en el amor.
Que nadie se aleje de la Eucaristía, sino que todos descubran en ella la presencia viva de Cristo que transforma y sostiene nuestras vidas.
