Sunday of All Saints and All Souls at San Nicholas

This Sunday, the community of Saint Nicholas celebrated with faith and emotion the Feast of All Saints and All Souls, moments when the Church invites us to look toward heaven and remember with gratitude those who have already gone to the Father’s house.

The Holy Mass on this day has a deep meaning: we celebrate the communion of saints — those who already live in God’s glory — and we pray for the souls of the faithful departed, asking that they too may reach the fullness of eternal life. It is a time of hope, light, and spiritual union between heaven and earth.

Before the Mass, there was the preparation and decoration of the altar dedicated to the departed souls, a gesture of love and faith that is part of Latin tradition found from Mexico throughout Latin America. The altar was adorned with flowers, candles, and photos, creating a sacred space of memory and prayer.

During the celebration, after the Creed, each person received a candle to light in honor of their loved ones — a symbol of light that never fades before God. United in prayer, we remembered that love is stronger than death and that eternal life is the promise Christ has given us.

The altar remains in the parish as a living sign of faith, remembrance, and hope in the resurrection.
